XStrata Buys Anvil Hill, Austral Coal From Centennial Coal

Xstrata Coal has continued its buying spree with the purchase of Anvil Hill and Austral Coal from Centennial Coal.  Helios Australia (a subsidiary of Xstrata Coal) has paid $1.86 per Austral share.  This means that Centennial will receive A$479 million from XStrata Coal.

Centennial Coal Announces Restructure

Centennial Coal’s announcement last week of the results of its Strategic Review certainly sent its share price plummeting, losing over 25% of its value since the announcement. The main “shock” in the announcement was the news that Centennial was closing Newstan Colliery after years of struggling with geological issues.
